Photo Album: Leesburg Virginia Crawl Space Encapsulation

This home in Leesburg Virginia had a crawl space with too much moisture and had developed musty odors and mold in the existing insulation. Our Home Performance Sales Pro Eric visited with the home owners and designed a project to help control the moisture, keep the temperature controlled and make the home living space above more comfortable. Our production team removed all of the existing insulation and black plastic floor covering before installing a moisture barrier on the floor, insulating the walls with Silver Glo insulation panels, air sealing the panels with Zyp Foam, closing off the rim joists with spray foam insulation and finally laying down a layer of Clean Space to seal the floors and base of the walls.

The old insulation would need to be removed and disposed of.

Crawl Space Encapsulation

insulating the walls, rather than the bottom of the floors helps to keep the air in the crawl space more controlled and prevents external temperatures from impacting the conditions inside of the home.

Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam was used to seal up the rim joists of the crawl space. This will eliminate the opportunity for uncontrolled air flow in and out of the space.
