Ineffective Insulation
With squares of insulation stuffed in the rim joists of this home, the real need was air sealing. Preventing entry of external air and the loss of conditioned air would help improve the air quality in the basement and the rest of the home.
Open Rim Joists
This space in the frame of the home can allow external air and temperatures to impact how it feels inside. Spray foam insulation would later be used to seal and fill the spaces.
Wall Insulation
In addition to insulating these walls, the insulation panels will help with sound dampening.
Wall Insulation Panels
These panels insulate from floor to ceiling and can be air sealed using Zyp Foam.
Wall Insulation
Insulation panels and spray foam will keep this space controlled and more comfortable.
Spray foam insulation
The frame work of the walls was filled with several inches of spray foam insulation. This will help keep outside temperatures from impacting how it feels inside of the home.
Spray Foam
In addition to the walls, the rim joists were filled with spray foam.
Rim Joist Spray Foam
More of the rim joists in the basement sealed up with spray foam insulation.
