How to get rid of unwanted water in your basement

Unwanted water can show up in a basement due to many possible reasons or sources. Different sources means there are many different solutions. Our basement waterproofing systems focus on collecting unwanted water rather than trying to keep it from showing up in the first place. Water follows gravity and finds the path of least resistance to get into any structure, so blocking off one path can result in another path developing. But what do you do to get that water out of a home and to keep it from coming back?

Solution

We offer a variety of different sump pumps for our basement systems, some with multiple pumps, back up batteries and multiple discharge lines. These pumps discharge water out of a home once it is collected by our basement waterproofing systems and lead it in drainage or discharge line. Properly placing the discharge lines under ground using the natural slope of a yard helps send the water away from the home. The further away from a home you can send water, the lower the chances of it returning into the home.

A grate like this at a door or threshold helps to collect water and deliver it to the sub floor Water Guard system that will lead to the sump pump.

Traditional style drains like this can be retrofitted to send collected water to one of our water Guard systems and sump pumps.

A sump pump is the final stop for unwanted basement water before it is discharged out of the home.

A discharge line like the one here is fitted with an Ice Guard cap which prevents freezing in the colder times of year. The line is buried in the earth and leads water out and away from the home.
