Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Stafford VA Crawl Space Repair

This crawl space in Stafford VA had unwanted water and humidity that was leading to poor air quality and mold build up in the existing insulation mounted to the ceiling. The homeowner water to control the ground water, improve the air quality and make the space more useful if possible. Our Home Performance Sales Pro Jonathan was able to design a project to deliver all of those needs. The existing materials in the crawl space would be removed before our Production Team worked to smooth out some of the ground dirt. Terra Block matting was used to cover the floors before adding a layer of Clean Space on top. A sump pump and discharge line was installed to collect any of the unwanted water possible before discharging it out of the crawl space. Silver Glo insulation panels were placed on all of the walls before being air sealed with Zyp Foam and then the rim joists of the home were filled and air sealed with Spray Foam. Controlling the water and limiting air flow in the crawl space would help to improve the energy efficiency, air quality and value of the home.

Crawl Space Dirt Floors

Cold dirt floors in a crawl space can lead to cold floors for the rooms in the home above. Covering and insulating these floors will lead to more controlled temperatures and better air quality.

Nasty Crawl Space

Moisture coming from the floors and walls was collecting in the insulation above leading to mildew and mold growth.

Wet Crawl Space

Plastic floor covering doesn't help to keep a crawl space dry. Instead it traps moisture below, leading to musty smells and poor air quality.

Our Production Team was able to clear out sections of the crawl space in order to lay down several layers of floor covering as well as Silver Glo insulation panels.

Crawl Space Floor Covering

Terra Block floor matting will help to create a barrier between the dirt floors and the useable surface. This material sits off the ground and allows for air flow to promote evaporation when moisture is present.

Crawl Space Sump Pump

Our Production Crew installed the new sump pump in the lowest part of the crawl space, with discharge lines sending the water out of the home and into the yard.
