Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Woodford VA Wet Crawl Space

This home in Woodford Virginia had a crawl space that was wet and humid, despite having been treated previously by a different company. musty odors came from the crawl space and could be smelled inside of the home. Traditional crawl space measures were used with plastic sheets covering the dirt floors and fiberglass insulation stapled to the top of the crawl space. Our Home Performance Expert was able to insect the space and determine which products and services would best deliver the results the homeowner was looking for. Our production crew began by removing all of the old materials including the plastic and insulation. They covered the dirt floors with moisture barrier and installed Smart Pipe in the ground around the edges of the crawl space walls. this pipe would help to collect water and deliver it to the newly installed sump pump that was attached to a battery back up in case of power loss to the home. The rim joists of the home were insulated with spray foam and Silver Glo insulation panels were attached to the walls. Finally, clean Space was used to cover the rest of the surface area inside of the crawl space in addition to the support pillars and up the walls. A Sedona dehumidifier was installed to collect any excess humidity and help clean the crawl space air. The Sedona drainage line was run to the sump pump so that the water take out of the air would be pumped out.

Smart Pipe is buried at the base of the foundation walls and helps collect water that can then be delivered to the sump pump.

Crawl Space Insulation

Spray foam in the rim joists helps to reduce uncontrolled air flow from outside. Silver Glo insulation panels help insulate the crawl space from the outer walls, rather than from the ceiling or underside of the floors above. Clean Space covers the floors and base of the walls to prevent any moisture from coming through the dirt floors below.
