Herndon VA Crawl Space Transformation Project

This Herndon VA home had a vented crawl space that had insulation falling from the ceiling of the crawl space.  That insulation was meant to help control the temperature of the floors and rooms above but was not doing the job.  The crawl space being vented meant that external air was able to come into the home and bring with it allergens and dust along with whatever outside temperatures were happening.  Our production team removed all of the old insulation, sealed up the air vents and then used spray foam to insulate the walls and rim joist of the crawl space.  this turned the area in a controlled space with no impact from outside temperatures or air.  Although taken at slightly different angles and distances, these images are of the same exact corner of the crawl space before and after our team did their work.

Herndon VA Crawl Space Repair

This home in Herndon VA had a crawl space that had become very nasty over the years.  Uncontrolled air flow lead to humidity issues and excessive moisture.  The failed insulation was leading to cold floors above in the winter and the musty smell from the crawl space was noticeable in the rooms of the home above.  Our team was able to clean out the old insulation, level out the dirt floors, close off and air seal the vents to outside and then properly insulate and seal the rest of the crawl space.  Improved air quality in the home above and reduced energy use were the results.  The crawl space is now clean and safe to use for storage if needed.

Reston VA Crawl Space Transformation

A properly encapsulated crawl space can not only allow for more usage options in the space, but it can help improve the air quality in the home along with reducing energy costs.  this crawl space in Reston VA was musty, dirty and uncontrolled, allowing outside air and allergens to come in through the open vents.  Sealing off the space, insulating the walls and covering the dirt floor with multiple layers of Clean Space helped to make this a controlled environment with better air quality and a much more appealing visual.

Reston VA Crawl Space Transformation with Spray Foam and Clean Space

This Reston VA home had falling insulation that was failing to properly insulate the rooms and living space above from the uncontrolled environment of the crawl space.  The walls of the crawl space were not insulated and there vents allowing outdoor air to move freely in and out of the crawl space.  This external air can bring dust and allergens that can impact the air quality inside of the home.  Our Production Team Leader Carlos directed his team in removing the existing insulation before sealing up the vents to the crawl space and using spray foam to insulate the walls.  This turns the crawl space into a controlled environment with no influence from outside air temperatures.  It all makes the air quality in the home better and helps to reduce the energy costs for the homeowner.

Reston VA Crawl Space Encapsulation with Spray Foam and Clean Space

This Reston VA crawl space needed an upgrade.  The crawl space was vented and had insulation that did not work.  The existing bat insulation was coming loose from the crawl space ceiling and falling to the dirt floor below.  The walls of the crawl space were untreated and allowing moisture/wetness to enter the area.  This lead to a musty smell in the crawl space which worked its way into the air above in the living spaces of the home.  Our Home Performance Sales Pro Jason came to do a full home inspection and identified the solution to help solve all of those problems.  Jason advised that the homeowner to have the existing insulation removed and then to use our Clean Space service to cover the dirt floors and walls of the crawl space.  Clean Space includes Terra Block matting below to allow for the flow or air and moisture but keeps it from entering the air of the home above.  Once Clean Space was installed the walls were insulated with spray foam and the vents were sealed up.  Spray Foam was also used to seal up the rim joists in the crawl space, eliminating the opportunity for external air and temperatures to impact the environment inside of the crawl space.  This would all lead to improved air quality and reduced energy costs for the home.
